LTC E-Alert #7-066: Medicaid Planning Redux
Monday, May 21, 2007
LTC Comment: The professional profiteers on poverty--Medicaid planners--seem to be everywhere again.
We reviewed K. Gabriel Heiser's disreputable new book "How to Protect Your Family's Assets from Devastating Nursing Home Costs: Medicaid Secrets" last week in "LTC Bullet: Legal Abuse of Medicaid LTC Rife Post-DRA," May 16, 2007 at http://www.centerltc.com/bullets/latest/695.htm.
Center member, LTCI trainer and author Phyllis Shelton recently pointed out to us the irony and hypocrisy that Heiser's book was also reviewed in the May issue of ElderLaw News, a Medicaid planning newsletter, side-by-side with a positive review of GAO's recent whitewash of the divestiture issue. She wrote to the editor: "Ken, the incongruity of this newsletter is a little humorous - the GAO is saying transferring rarely ever happens, and Gabriel Heiser is advertising his new book on how to do it post-DRA . . . am I the only one out here shaking my head???"
