1 Million U.S. Children Are Caregivers

The number is actually 1.3 million of children ages 8-18 have been thrust into caregiving roles way too early and 58% of these child caregivers help with at least one activity of daily living such as bathing, dressing, transferring, eating, using the bathroom and yes, changing adult diapers. Most care for parents and grandparents but some are caring for siblings, aunts or uncles, or other relatives. An 18 year old girl is pictured caring for her mother who has multiple sclerosis.
